ARENDELL PARROT ACADEMY
Kinston, NC, 2002-2004

Minges Field House:
The Arendell Parrott Academy required permanent bleacher seating for 400, a concessions facility, and a press box. Given the modesty of both the program and budget ($100,000), the design uses brick to match the existing campus buildings and metal siding for the upper levels. Low brick site walls around the bleachers make a visual connection between the press box and the seating.

Minges Student Activity Center:
Located to the Northwest of the Field House, the Student Activity Center includes a practice gym facility, a stage for theatre performances, locker rooms for athletic and physical activities, seating for 600, and divisable multi-purpose spaces. The volume housing the large gym and performance area is accommodated in a large pre-engineered building with vertical metal siding. A narrow, linear brick volume facing the campus to the South screens this structure.
